John Kunze, who joined Xoom as a director in 2004, was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Xoom in 2006. Prior to Xoom, John was President, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Plumtree Software, Inc., a provider of enterprise software solutions, until they were acquired by BEA Systems, Inc. in 2005. Before he joined Plumtree in 1998, John worked at Adobe Systems Inc. in a variety of product roles. John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Franklin & Marshall College in Pennsylvania.
Ryno Blignaut re-joined Xoom in January 2015 as Acting Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer. From 2005 to December 2014, Ryno was Xoom’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer. He oversees finance, treasury and all enterprise risk management. From July 2003 to April 2005, Ryno worked as a consultant in financial regulation with RSM Robson Rhodes LLP (acquired by Grant Thornton LLP), an accounting firm. From September 2002 to February 2003, he served as Head of Finance for PayPal UK, an online payment company, in the United Kingdom. Ryno began his career as an auditor with Deloitte in South Africa and the U.S., and he has been a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants since 1998. Ryno holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honors degree in Accounting from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Julian King joined Xoom in 2005 and is the company’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development. He runs marketing, advertising, public relations, business development and strategy. Julian came to Xoom from EarthLink, where he was Vice President of Marketing and Products for the PeoplePC Online business, and was instrumental in growing it to more than a million paying subscribers. From 1992 to 2000, Julian worked at Procter & Gamble, most recently as Marketing Director. Julian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Christopher Ferro joined Xoom in January of 2008 as Vice President of Legal and Compliance, Secretary, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Christopher is responsible for all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters related to the company. Prior to joining Xoom, he was Senior Counsel at PayPal Inc., managing the litigation, regulatory, intellectual property, operations, and risk functions for its US legal team. He was the second lawyer hired at PayPal Inc., in 2001, six months prior to PayPal's initial public offering, and one year before its acquisition by eBay for $1.5 billion. Prior to his tenure at PayPal/eBay, Christopher practiced law at two firms in New York City. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Stanford University and his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.
Frank Walter, Vice President of Operations at Xoom since 2009, runs customer operations, network operations and contact centers. He has successfully led customer operations organizations in both start up and Fortune 500 companies, including diverse functional areas such as call center operations, global vendor management, field operations, professional services, inside sales, account management and accounts receivable. Frank has had various leadership roles in Enterprise Customer Operations at AT&T, four years as Director of Global Customer Services at Good Technology/Motorola and most recently served as Vice President of Customer Operations at VCA Antech/Eklin Medical Systems. Frank holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego.
Joe Raymond was named Vice President of Product Development in 2011, and is responsible for delivering relevant and usable online and mobile solutions to Xoom’s customers and partners. Joe was previously Director of Retail Business at Cafepress.com and VP of User Apps at Pay By Touch, a fingerprint-based payment processing service at major supermarkets. At E*TRADE, he helped build an innovative financial services company in roles spanning product management, finance, customer acquisition and brand marketing. Earlier in his career, he was part of the founding management team at Internet Consultancy SquareEarth (acquired by Proxicom). From 1993 until 1995, Joe was an analyst at JP Morgan in New York City. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University and an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business.
Ramsey Lubbat joined Xoom in 2006 and is Vice President of Development, responsible for software development and quality assurance. Ramsey came to Xoom from Inovis (formerly QRS), where he worked on Catalogue, a massive B2B product synchronization tool for retailers. Prior to Inovis, he was at iHance at the earliest stages of its existence, helping to create its email lead generation and tracking technology. Ramsey was also Senior Software Engineer at Personify, a leading web behavioral analysis company, and Software Engineer at Clear Communications, a telecom circuit management software company. Ramsey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Northwestern University.
